New Graded Vocational Qualifications

Introducing graded versions of some of our popular vocational qualifications

We take pride in responding to feedback from our centres and in answer to your requests we are introducing graded versions of some of our most popular vocational qualifications. Operational from September 2017, the sectors below are the first group of new qualifications available:

  • Business
  • Sports and Leisure
  • Childcare
  • Health and Social Care
  • Travel and Tourism

The key facts about these qualifications are that all the units are at Level 2, and are graded pass, merit, distinction. The overall qualification is also graded pass, merit, distinction. This will provide stretch and challenge for those wishing to progress to Level 2 in the sector or a related area.

These new graded qualifications have been developed in a way that allows them to be co-teachable with our other Level 2 qualifications in the sector. And, like their ungraded counterparts, they are assessed through a portfolio of evidence.

Each qualification contains a number of optional sector specific units and four generic units - Communication Skills for the Workplace, Numeracy Skills for the Workplace, ICT Skills for the Workplace, Improving own Employability Skills. Improving own Employability Skills is particularly suitable for those undertaking a period of work placement. Learners may also choose to carry out a project on a theme that relates to the sector.

This is the first phase of the development, with the next group of sectors currently being finalised. Get in touch via our Contact Us page or by calling your usual development contact, if you would use graded qualifications in other sectors at Level 2 - for example, Public Services, Engineering.
