    • Why choose this qualification?

    This qualification has been developed to enable providers of training to determine that those delivering on their behalf understand the content of the training and are able to apply training and assessment methods effectively. It is intended for use with learners who are responsible for the delivery and assessment of training rather than for planning, designing and developing materials for training.

    The qualification is intended to recognise the learner’s ability to deliver and assess a training session or short series of training sessions.

    Learners who complete this unit may choose to extend their skills in delivering training through progressing to the Level 3 Award in Education or Training and/or to the Level 4 Certificate in Education and Training. They may also be able to seek new employment opportunities in which training skills would be valued.

    What is the purpose of this qualification?

    This qualification is for individuals who are going to be responsible for delivering and assessing a given training session, or short series of training sessions.

    What skills, knowledge, or understanding does this qualification develop?

    The learners will complete a single mandatory unit which covers understanding of the material you will be delivering and the training and assessment methods to be applied, and the skills required to deliver and review a training session or short series of sessions.

    Which sector does this qualification support?

    The qualification is primarily aimed at those already in employment but who either have no prior experience of delivering or assessing training or are not experienced in the specific area that they will be working in. It should therefore help the learner to develop in an existing role or enable the learner to progress to a new role where training skills are important.

    What are the progression options?

    Once the learners have completed this qualification the learner could choose to extend the skills in delivering training by moving on to the Level 3 Award in Education and Training and/or to the Level 4 Certificate in Education and Training.

    Progression & entry requirements

    The learners must be aged 19 or over to take this qualification. While learners do not need any specific prior qualifications or levels of attainment to enter for the qualification, they will need good communication skills and a basic understanding of the subject matter covered by the training that will be delivered.
