    • Why choose this qualification?

    These qualifications have been developed to accredit the training provided to adults taking on the role of an ‘appropriate adult’, providing support to children and vulnerable adults while they are in police custody. The qualifications have been produced with the support of the National Appropriate Adult Network and in particular with guidance from Norfolk Appropriate Adult Service.

    The objective of the Gateway Qualifications suite of Working as an Appropriate Adult qualifications is to prepare the learner to take on a specific role within a given occupational area.

    Once completed, the qualification provides progression into the appropriate adult role, working either with children, vulnerable adults or both, according to which qualification is selected.

    The learner must complete two mandatory units totalling 4 credits.
