  • Why choose this qualification?

The Gateway Qualifications Volunteering qualifications are intended to accredit the training that volunteers undertake to prepare for a volunteering role.

They have been developed with a number of organisations who recruit volunteers, including local authorities, and have been designed to be relevant to volunteers preparing for a wide range of different volunteering roles in different contexts.

There are four qualifications within the suite. The Gateway Qualifications Level 1 Award in Volunteering and Gateway Qualifications Level 2 Award in Volunteering are qualifications designed to enable learners identify volunteering opportunities, prepare for and undertake a volunteering role, and reflect own practice. The Gateway Qualifications Level 2 Award in Preparing to Volunteer is a single unit award, while the slightly larger Gateway Qualifications Level 2 Award in Skills for Volunteers combines the Preparing to Volunteer unit from the smaller qualification with an additional unit from a range of units covering skills identified by volunteering organisations as important in preparing volunteers for their volunteering role.
