Gateway Qualifications is currently consulting with centres on how to implement the changes required to meet the DfE’s published subject content for the new Functional Skills in English and Mathematics.

Following a consultation last year the Department for Education (DfE) has published subject content for the new Functional Skills in English and Mathematics. The revised qualifications, based on this subject content will be introduced for first teaching from September 2019. The DfE also published their response to the consultation and an equality impact assessment.

Ofqual has also launched a consultation on implementing Functional Skills reform, which seeks views on the detailed conditions, requirements and guidance they want to put in place for the new functional skills qualifications.
