Yesterday, the Adult Education Budget (AEB) funding rules for 2018-19 publication was updated. A significant change in government policy is now reflected in the document which includes the full funding of courses for those eligible for co-funding but earning less than £15,726.50.

This key change is great news for all as it supports the social mobility agenda and helps adults upskill and progress their chosen career.  This increased flexibility should also help the underspend in the sector.

The Department for Education made it clear that this will be a trial in 2018/19 nevertheless this is fantastic news for the sector and for the learners it will benefit.

More details about the new eligibility requirements are available on the ESFA website.
