The Level 3 Certificate in English for Academic Purposes has been developed in conjunction with the FE sector to enable learners to develop the English language skills needed for higher level academic and vocational courses, specifically those relating to critical reading.

The qualification is relevant to those who wish to progress to further study where they will be required to read, analyse and make use of academic texts in their own writing, but currently lack these skills at an appropriate level. It will support learners to develop the skills needed to read critically academic texts, extract and organise useful information from them and make use of that information in their own academic writing.

It may also be used to up-skill ESOL learners so that they can aspire to higher level study and eventually employment and will also be relevant as a complementary qualification to Access to HE Diplomas.
