Be able to take a plant cutting and prepare it for planting. 

Assessment Criteria

  • 2.1

    Select and make correct use of appropriate tool(s) to take a cutting from a chosen plant and remove leaves as necessary. 

  • 2.2

    Dip cutting into a suitable rooting compound.

  • 2.3

    Prepare compost, using an appropriate compost and container to receive cutting.

Be able to plant cuttings. 

Assessment Criteria

  • 3.1

    Plant cuttings to optimise chance of successful growth providing supporting canes as necessary.

  • 3.2

    Provide appropriate immediate aftercare for cuttings.

    Select an appropriate place for the cuttings to encourage growth.
