147 nominations. 42 individual tutors. 1 winner.

We are extremely excited to reveal that the winner of The Gateway Qualifications Access to HE Tutor of the Year Awards 2020 is Grace Henry from Chelmsford College.

Here are a few reasons why Grace was nominated by her students and is our deserved winner:

“I cannot express how much of an amazing inspirational woman Grace Henry really is. There is no way I would have made it through my course without having her by my side.”

“Really makes our group feel like a little family, whilst remaining professional and providing encouragement.”

“She is tireless in her efforts to get us where we all need to be. I really hope she feels our appreciation.”

“She showed me that success comes through hard work and confidence.”

“Grace always makes time for her students no matter what, she certainly is special and I will miss her once I leave.”

Knowing the way Access to HE students feel about their tutors, we knew we would have wonderful things to read when looking through the nominations, and that students would be willing to take part. What we couldn’t have imagined was the number of entries we would receive and the depth some students would go into to share the love and support they feel from Access to HE and its tutors.

In the nomination form, we asked students to describe their tutors in 3 words.

Here is a word cloud to show you what you mean to them:

Thank you to all of those who shared the nomination form with your students, and for helping The Awards be a success – even in its first year! We will keep you updated on what 2021 brings.
