Assessment Guidance

Learners should be working with and closely supervised by a suitably qualified and experienced adult when addressing Learning Outcomes 3 and 4. They should be following instructions at all times and responsible for completing only aspects of receiving, storing and preparing animal feed.

Know about preparing feed for animals.

Assessment Criteria

    Identify the correct way to prepare feed for a particular type of animal.

    Identify equipment and utensils needed for preparing a specific type of animal feed.

  • 2.3

    Identify key hygiene and health and safety rules to follow when preparing feed for a particular type of animal.


3.

Be able to assist with receiving and storing animal feed.

Assessment Criteria

    Follow instructions to check quantity and quality of animal feed delivered.

  • 3.2

    Store different animal feeds, following given procedures.

  • 3.3

    Follow instructions to check animal feed for signs of infestation.


4.

Be able to assist with preparing feed for animals.

Assessment Criteria

  • 4.1

    Locate the correct animal feed for a specific animal.

  • 4.2

    Prepare given equipment and materials for preparing and serving a particular type of animal feed.

  • 4.3

    Prepare the required amount of animal feed as instructed.

  • 4.4

    Follow workplace guidelines for health, safety and hygiene.
