Unit Learning Outcomes

Be able to plan and prepare for the wallpapering task.

Assessment Criteria

  • 1.1

    Select relevant tools and materials for wallpapering.

  • 1.2

    Describe obvious defects in the surface to be prepared.

  • 1.3

    Estimate the number of complete drops needed to cover the surface area.

  • 1.4

    Set up a papering table in a position to facilitate working.

  • 1.5

    Mix adhesive according to paper type and the manufacturer's instructions.

  • 1.6

    Mark a plumb line from a starting point.


2.

Be able to wallpaper.

Assessment Criteria

  • 2.1

    Apply adhesive to the paper, ensuring even and complete coverage.

  • 2.2

    Demonstrate how to fold paper appropriately before applying to wall.

  • 2.3

    Apply first drop to the plumb line and ensure subsequent drops are butted.

  • 2.4

    Demonstrate good wallpapering technique to minimise creases and bubbles.

  • 2.5

    Ensure internal and external angles are correctly finished.

  • 2.6

    Cut and apply the paper around a range of fixtures and fittings.

  • 2.7

    Trim excess paper and remove any excess paste.


3.

Be able to maintain tools and the working area.

Assessment Criteria

  • 3.1

    Clean tools.

  • 3.2

    Clean the area.

  • 3.3

    Re-instate the working area upon completion of task.
