Assessment Guidance

The focus of the assessment for this unit is on interview skills. However, it is expected that the underpinning teaching and learning will help develop learners’ awareness of:

• the importance of preparing for an interview, including planning how to get there and what to wear
• what employers are looking for when they carry out interviews.

Aim

To help learners develop the skills they need to prepare for, participate in and review their performance in an interview.

Unit Learning Outcomes

Be able to prepare for an interview.

Assessment Criteria

  • 1.1

    Identify key information about the employer and/or place of work.

  • 1.2

    Identify main tasks and activities associated with the job role or placement. 

  • 1.3

    Prepare answers to a given set of questions likely to be asked at the interview.

  • 1.4

    List appropriate questions to ask at interview.

Be able to plan how to get to and present self at the interview.

Assessment Criteria

  • 2.1

    Identify from information provided, the time and place where the interview will be held.

  • 2.2

    Plan a route and means of transport to travel to the interview.

  • 2.3

    Select an appropriate outfit.

Be able to present self positively at an interview.

Assessment Criteria

  • 3.1

    Demonstrate appropriate personal presentation 

  • 3.2

    Demonstrate positive non-verbal communication in an interview.

  • 3.3

    Give clear, straightforward answers to the questions asked.

Be able to review own performance in an interview.

Assessment Criteria

  • 4.1

    Identify what went well in the interview and what did not.
