Assessment Guidance

The focus of the assessment for this unit is on money-handling skills. However, it is expected that the underpinning teaching and learning will help develop learners’ awareness of:

• different ways to pay for items (e.g. cash, debit or credit cards, contactless payments, Apple Pay, Paypal)
• ways to keep money safe (e.g. not keeping wallet in back pocket or in bag behind wheel chair).

Aim

To enable learners to use and store money effectively.

Unit Learning Outcomes

Be able to carry out transactions.

Assessment Criteria

  • 1.1

    Use cash, card or phone to pay for items in face-to-face situations.

  • 1.2

    Check change and/or receipts.

Know how to keep money safe.

Assessment Criteria

  • 2.1

    Keep cash and cards in a safe place, replacing cards and storing change after making payments.


3.

Be able to access own money.

Assessment Criteria

  • 3.1

    Use appropriate means to access own money (e.g. through an ATM).
