Aim

Learners will develop the skills to manage an online calendar to help them organise their work, priorities and time more effectively.

Unit Learning Outcomes

Be able to use online calendar software.

AC 1.1:

  • Easy to use, usually provide an appointment book, address book, and/or contact list, time management, collaborative and sharing features make it easier to collaborate with co workers, schedule meetings and automate repetitive tasks, automatic synchronisation, cross-platform/device compatibility, web-based interface allows users to access their calendars from any computer or mobile device without having to solely rely on their work or personal computer.

AC 1.2:

  • Will vary depending on software: explore/identify the interface, key features, tools, change the way the calendar looks with themes, personalisation, different views (day, week, month).

Be able to manage calendar entries.

  • Online calendar features: colour-code events, notification reminders for appointments and deadlines, create recurring events (regular meetings, events, appointments), denote all-day events with checkmark.
  • Events and appointments: personal (doctors, dentist appointment, etc) or business (team meeting, client meeting, presentation, etc), multiple views (day, week, month, year), customisation (email appointment remainders, calendar viewing default, workweek and work hours display, etc).
  • Meeting request/invite: will vary in context but would include as a minimum: sending out a notice of meeting that covers the date, time, venue and purpose of the meeting and an agenda to invitees, including meeting title, date, time, venue, as well as points to be discussed, booking and confirming venue for a set time and date.
  • Responding to meeting request/invite: checking the attendance from the RSVPs of attendees, sending out reminders to attendees (if no response).
  • Calendar notifications and alarms: can be set manually or automatically, to remind participants of an upcoming meeting.

Be able to manage and share calendars. 

  • Additional calendars: personal, work, family, shows dates and events in addition to individual calendars.
  • Calendar sharing: share availability with others, sharing settings (users can select how much detail is shared), availability/appointment slots can be viewed and booked by others.

Assessment Criteria

    Create, hide and delete additional calendars.

    Search multiple calendars.

  • 3.3

    Share a calendar to show availability.
