    Analyse, with examples, how different birthing environments might suit different labour choices.

2. — Understand the stages of labour and the role of the midwife in relation to labour and delivery.

    Explain in detail:

    • the start of labour
    • acceleration of labour
    • monitoring of labour
    • any interventions in labour.
  • 2.2.

    Describe the role of the midwife during each stage of labour.

3. — Understand how the midwife assists in the care of the parent(s) and the newborn baby in the immediate post-natal period.

    Explain how the midwife assists with the care of the baby in the immediate post-natal period.
