Media Perspectives of Health and Social Care

Understand the public image of health and/or social care services or profession.

Either refer to a range of services (3 or more) or look at a specific profession such as nursing, Occupational Therapy etc.

  Evaluate the extent to which the public perception of a health and/or social care services or profession within the UK is driven by the media.

  Analyse the impact of positive and negative media reports on a health and/or social care services or profession.

Understand media bias and impartiality related to the health and social care sector.

  Identify bias and impartiality within health and social care reporting.

• 2.2

  Explain reasons for bias and impartiality within media reports related to health and social care.

Be able to compare bias directly within a specific topic.

Assessment Criteria

• 3.1

  Compare articles about the same topic from two different perspectives. Identify the different biases.
