1 — Know about the process of fashion design.

Assessment Criteria

  • 1.1

    Outline the main considerations in the design of fashion and clothing including
    •the target market
    •fabrics and trimmings
    •construction details
    •costing.
  • 1.2

    Outline the main stages of the design process including
    •the design brief
    •visual research
    •identifying fabrics and trimmings
    •design ideas
    •design development
    •finished design (front and back).
2 — Be able to create fashion designs to a specified brief.

Assessment Criteria

  • 2.1
    Use relevant drawing media and techniques to produce a collection of initial fashion design ideas from the visual research.
  • 2.2
    Produce drawings for two different designs which show front and back working flat drawings with design details consistent with the brief.
  • 2.3
    Identify appropriate fabrics and trimmings for each design.
3 — Illustrate fashion designs.

Assessment Criteria

  • 3.1
    Use figure templates to produce fashion designs.
  • 3.2
    Use relevant drawing media and techniques to produce illustrations of fashion designs.
