Assessment Criteria

  • 2.1

    Create style adaptions for features on dresses such as
    •necklines
    •openings
    •fastenings
    •collars
    •pockets.

Be able to create a pattern and toile for a dress.

Assessment Criteria

  • 3.1
    Adapt a dress block to produce a fitted, strapless dress pattern.
  • 3.2
    Record the relevant technical information on the pattern including seam allowances, marking and labelling.
  • 3.3
    Mark, cut and machine a toile from the adapted pattern.
  • 3.4
    Assess fit and make simple adjustments to the pattern prior to lay planning.

Be able to produce a lay plan.

Assessment Criteria

  • 4.1
    Place pattern pieces within fabric useable width, economically and following grain lines and pattern piece markings to minimise fabric wastage.
  • 4.2
    Measure and record the quantity (length and width) of fabric required for each lay plan.
  • 4.3
    Calculate and record the cost of the fabric required for each lay plan attempt.
  • 4.4
    Compare fabric costings and select the most economical lay plan to mark in (trace).
