Aim

In this unit, learners will learn how to speak to communicate information, ideas and opinions in a variety of contexts.

Unit Learning Outcomes

Be able to communicate with others.

Assessment Criteria

  • 1.1

    Speak clearly in a way which suits the situation.

    1.1: Speak clearly, for example:

    • use appropriate tone, volume, pace for the context
    • avoid slang/unclear language in professional or formal situations
    • practice pronunciation and enunciation for clarity

  • 1.2
    Express statements of fact, explanations, instructions, accounts and descriptions.
  • 1.3

    Ask questions to obtain information from different people and for different purposes.

    1.3: Ask questions, for example:

    • use open-ended questions to gather more detailed responses
    • use closed questions for quick, specific answers
    • adjust questions depending on the person and purpose

Be able to adapt speech according to context.
