Join us for a focused standardisation session designed for new and practising ESOL assessors and IQAs working with Entry Level Reading.

This practical webinar will explore common marking challenges, highlight examples of effective assessment practice, and provide clear guidance to support accurate, consistent and reliable assessment decisions. Whether you are new to ESOL assessment or looking to refresh your knowledge, this session will help strengthen your approach and ensure your centre meets both national requirements and Gateway Qualifications’ standards and expectations.

By attending, you will:

  • Gain a clearer understanding of how to apply Entry Level Reading assessment criteria accurately and consistently
  • Identify common errors and misconceptions that can lead to inconsistent marking decisions
  • Discover practical strategies to improve standardisation and assessment practice within your centre
  • Hear directly from senior EQAs on best practice, quality expectations and common findings
  • Build confidence in delivering high-quality, compliant ESOL assessments
  • Be better prepared for internal and external quality assurance activities.

This interactive session offers an excellent opportunity to enhance your assessment practice, improve consistency across your centre, and support positive outcomes for learners.

Please note:

These live webinars are exclusively available to staff from centres approved to deliver Gateway Qualifications’ ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) Skills for Life qualifications. To register, you must use an organisational email address associated with an approved ESOL centre. If you’re a registered Centre and haven’t received a registration email, please contact the Quality team at assessment@gatewayqualifications.org.uk for the registration link.

If your organisation is not yet approved to deliver ESOL qualifications, please contact us to find out more about becoming an approved centre.
