Following consultation with our Access to HE Centres, we are excited to introduce new units to enhance your Access to HE offer.
These units will be available for delivery from 1st August 2025:
- Application of Number – Interpreting and Presenting Information
- Media Perspectives of Health and Social Care
- Extended Research Project
- Work Experience and Professional Development
Through a mapping exercise in collaboration with Barnfield College, we identified three units in a bespoke diploma that could be added to our shared diplomas.
Application of Number – Interpreting and Presenting Information
This Level 2, ungraded unit is essential for learners who do not have a GCSE in maths to gain extra maths credits, which can support progression to university, based on university requirements. This unit will become part of the Access to HE (Health Professions) diploma, replacing the existing unit QU035152, which is currently in the Social Sciences Diploma.
Media Perspectives of Health and Social Care
This Level 3, graded unit will be added to our Health Professions and Social Sciences Diplomas. It examines the public image of health and social care services or professions and explores media bias.
Research: Extended Research Project for Health
This Level 3, graded unit will be added to our Health Professions Diploma. It ensures comprehensive research opportunities in Health Professions and aligns with the three research units offered in Social Sciences.
Work Experience and Professional Development
For this unit, we reached out to our Centres and asked if they wanted us to include the professional behaviours/work experience unit in all our diplomas. Receptively, most of them thought it would be a great idea as an ungraded optional unit! This unit is designed to give students real-life experience that complements their academic learning.
