Gateway Qualifications staff have donated £1,200 to Standing Tall thanks to a staff-led initiative that combined sustainability with community benefit.
The donation was raised after twelve colleagues each contributed £100 to obtain a retired company laptop. The idea was developed by Jodi Garrett, Head of IT, as part of our work to strengthen our corporate social responsibility activities.
The initiative enabled staff to repurpose equipment no longer needed by the organisation, helping reduce electronic waste while raising money for a charity supporting people experiencing homelessness.
Standing Tall works with employers to create stable, good‑quality jobs and helps individuals move from temporary accommodation into safe, long‑term housing.
Jodi said the enthusiasm from colleagues made the project a real success:
“Thank you to everyone who took part and helped us make a positive impact. It’s a simple idea that benefits colleagues, supports our charity partner and helps us work more sustainably.”
Any remaining laptops will be donated to an education or sustainability‑focused charity for further reuse.
