More than 200 books were donated yesterday as Gateway Qualifications staff came together for our Spring Staff Day, in support of the Books for the Inside campaign.

Our Staff Days give colleagues from across the organisation the chance to come together in person – something we really value as a remote‑working organisation. They’re also an opportunity to take part in staff‑led initiatives that make a positive difference.

This year’s initiative was led by our Staff Involvement Group (SIG) and reflected both our commitment to social impact and our support for 2026 as the National Year of Reading.

Staff were invited to bring along new or gently used books, all of which were donated to the Yorkshire Learning Provider Network’s Books for the Inside campaign.

As an active member of the network, Gateway Qualifications is proud to support an initiative that strengthens access to reading in prisons. The campaign responds to a growing shortage of books in prison libraries and plays an important role in supporting literacy, wellbeing and rehabilitation for prison learners, many of whom study Gateway Qualifications programmes as part of their personal and educational development.

Fabienne Bailey, CEO of Gateway Qualifications, said:

Gateway Qualifications is proud of our long term commitment to prison education and so supporting the Yorkshire Learning Provider Network’s Books for the Inside campaign was an easy decision. Once again, our brilliant colleagues have demonstrated their own individual commitment to social value and I’m so impressed that we were able to collect and donate over 200 books! We hope they are well read and enjoyed by many more people!

This book drive builds on the generosity shown across previous staff‑led initiatives, including our food donation campaign in September and our recent laptop donation initiative supporting Standing Tall.

Together, these activities highlight the enthusiasm of Gateway Qualifications staff to make a meaningful difference in communities across the UK.
