Aim

To help learners keep safe and act responsibly when online.

Unit Learning Outcomes

1.

Be able to keep safe online.

Assessment Criteria

  • 1.1

    Reveal appropriate levels of personal information and/or images when chatting or posting online.

  • 1.2

    Enable or disable specific features or settings on apps or devices to help keep safe.

  • 1.3

    Set appropriate passwords.

  • 1.4

    Follow personal safety guidelines when meeting in person, someone first encountered online.

Be able to recognise and respond to warning signs that they may not be safe when online.

Assessment Criteria

  • 2.1

    Identify online communications which suggest that someone might be trying to put them at risk, bully, deceive or exploit them (e.g. financially or sexually).

  • 2.2

    Report anything online causing suspicion, upset or worry to an appropriate person or by using a site-specific reporting mechanism.


3.

Be able to demonstrate positive online behaviour.

Assessment Criteria

  • 3.1

    Show respect for others through own online behaviour.

  • 3.2

    Respond appropriately to the negative online behaviours of others.

  • 3.3

    Follow site-specific regulations or guidelines for appropriate communication.
