Aim

To help learners understand themselves and their suitability for different types of work and to be able to articulate this to others. This unit can be used as part of the vocational profiling process.

Unit Learning Outcomes

1.

Be able to express own wishes and goals in relation to employment.

Assessment Criteria

  • 1.1

    Communicate preferences and aspirations for future employment.

Be able to identify relevant prior experiences of work and/or the workplace.

Assessment Criteria

  • 2.1

    Identify previous jobs, volunteering roles, work experience or placements, or informal experience of the workplace.

  • 2.2

    Outline tasks they have completed and skills used during these prior experiences.


3.

Be able to identify own strengths and weaknesses in relation to employment.

Assessment Criteria

  • 3.1

    Outline their strengths, including skills, attitudes and behaviours, as appropriate.

  • 3.2

    Identify weaknesses and barriers in relation to employability.


4.

Be able to identify key support needs.

Assessment Criteria

  • 4.1

    Identify key aspects of support they may need in preparing for, seeking or applying for work, and/or once employed.


5.

Be able to contribute to own development plan.

Assessment Criteria

  • 5.1

    Contribute ideas or suggestions to a plan for gaining and sustaining employment.
