Assessment Guidance

Learners should be encouraged to follow a healthy diet but they are not required to consume a healthy diet to achieve this unit. They must, however, be able to recognise and select healthy options from those available.

Aim

To ensure learners understand the importance of healthy eating and that they are able to assess their own eating habits.

Unit Learning Outcomes

1.

Know about healthy eating.

Assessment Criteria

  • 1.1

    State why it is important to eat healthily.

  • 1.2

    Identify some key characteristics of healthy eating (e.g. regular meals, portion size).

Be able to assess own eating habits.

Assessment Criteria

  • 2.1

    Identify aspects of own eating habits which are healthy and unhealthy.

  • 2.2

    Suggest one or more straightforward actions they could take to improve their own eating habits (e.g. eat fewer crisps, have breakfast).


3.

Be able to make healthy choices in relation to diet.

Assessment Criteria

  • 3.1

    Make healthy choices about own food and drink, from given options and/or in accordance with an agreed personal plan.
