Assessment Guidance

Learners should be encouraged to select healthy options over a period of time, but they are not required to actually follow a healthy diet over a specific period or to exclude non-healthy foods in order to achieve the unit.

Aim

To ensure learners understand the importance of healthy eating and that they are able to assess their own eating habits.

    Identify the key elements of a healthy diet in relation to food and drink.

    Outline the main health benefits of a healthy diet and the potential effects of an unhealthy diet.

    Outline aspects of own diet which are:

    • healthy
    • unhealthy.

    Identify ways to improve own eating habits to make them more healthy.

Be able to make healthy choices in relation to diet.
