Be able to prepare for carrying out tasks using decorative paint effects. 

Preparation for painting

  • select appropriate brushes for assigned painting effect
  • test backgrounds
  • prepare work area with protection
  • remove any fittings and safely store
  • fill and sand down any imperfections
  • evaluate suitability of glazes, stencils and paint for use.

Demonstrate painting effects

  • produce a range of paint effect samples as given tasks

Be able to clean and store materials, tools and equipment. 

Maintain tools and equipment

  • Remove all masking protection
  • clean all tools and equipment using manufacturers stated methods
  • store tools, equipment and paint materials
  • reinstate the original environment by cleaning
