1 — Express preferences about what they want to learn.

Assessment Criteria

    Communicate their wishes about the content of their learning programme in relation to
    a) skills
    b) topics.
  • 1.2
    Give reasons why they want to learn certain things.
2 — Know that different activities provide opportunities for different sorts of learning.

Assessment Criteria

  • 2.1
    Identify the skills that can be developed through specific learning activities (e.g. working in the college shop will enable them to learn to handle money and communicate with different people).
  • 2.2
    Give examples of ways in which engaging in particular learning activities can support their longer term goals (e.g. ‘the vocational taster course at college will help me decide what sort of job I might want when I’m older’).
3 — Make choices between given options.

    Choose learning activities from given options which match their interests and give them opportunities to develop the skills needed to achieve their longer-term aspirations.
