    Identify different materials used in plastering and how they are used.

3 — Be able to prepare for plastering

Preparing for plastering

4 — Be able to plaster.

Demonstrate plastering techniques

  • mix a plaster batch
  • apply plaster to a sample wall section
  • finish the plaster section with a smooth surface
  • skim coat plasterboard to an angle bead

Assessment Criteria

    Mix plaster.
  • 4.2
    Pick up and apply plaster coats to sample section of wall.
  • 4.3
    Smooth surfaces with appropriate tool.
5 — Know how to work safely.

Safe plastering

  • using PPE whilst mixing plaster materials
  • care and attention when pouring dry plaster into a mixing bucket
  • observation of safety data sheets from manufacturers
  • wearing overalls
  • wearing safety footwear
  • cleaning tools and equipment with safe disposal of any plaster
