1 — Be able to produce tailored pocket samples.

Assessment Criteria

  • 1.1

    Use suitable different fabrics to construct
    •a slant pocket
    •a straight pocket
    •a hip pocket.
  • 1.2
    Use appropriate hand stitching to complete samples.
  • 1.3
    Use appropriate finishing to complete samples.
2 — Be able to produce a trouser zip sample.

Assessment Criteria

  • 2.1
    Construct a zip fly front sample for trousers using the correct quality, size and colour of zip.
  • 2.2

    Complete the sample using
    •appropriate hand stitching
    •appropriate finishing
    •appropriate equipment.
3 — Know the uses of lining and interfacing.

Assessment Criteria

  • 3.1
    Identify fusible interfacing.
  • 3.2
    Identify different linings and explain their use in tailoring.
  • 3.3
    Select the most suitable lining and interfacing for a sample tailored garment and explain the reason for selection.
4 — Know about health and safety in the workshop.

Assessment Criteria

  • 4.1
    Know about health and safety in the workshop.
  • 4.2
    Conduct all activity related to the practice of tailoring skills in line with relevant health and safety procedures and regulations.
