    Record required figure measurements.

    Describe how to adapt the standard pattern pieces to personal requirements including
    •figure measurements

4 — Be able to prepare fabric for garment assembly.

Assessment Criteria

  • 4.1

    Prepare fabric for garment assembly as follows
    •identify the grain of the fabric
    •press and fold fabric
    •position pattern pieces, pin or mark
    •cut out pattern pieces and fabric accurately.
5 — Be able to assemble and fit a simple garment.

    Use appropriate stitching techniques to tack the main garment pieces together.

    Fit the garment on the figure and make adjustments to the fit.

    Follow the pattern instruction sheet to complete construction.
