    Develop a comprehensive treatment and recovery plan for substance users during and following detoxification.

    Demonstrate appropriate communication of test results to those who are entitled to them.

Understand the principles and procedures of supervised consumption of drugs prescribed for the management of substance misuse.

  • 5.1
    Explain the uses, routes of administration and legal status of three prescribed medicines used in the management of substance misuse.
  • 5.2
    Explain the need for a written contract for drug administration including
    a) the procedure for supplying doses
    b) frequency
    c) procedure for missed doses
    d) the need to have a legally written prescription
    e) requirements for supervision.
  • 5.3
    Explain when it would be necessary to contact the prescriber and how this would be done.
