  • 2.1

    Describe how all the following methods can be used to maintain/control plant development:

    (i) trimming

    (ii) supporting

    (iii) thinning

    (iv) spacing

    (v) irrigation

    (vi) growth regulators

    (vii) lighting and shading

    (viii) protection

    (ix) pruning

Know the types of equipment required and how to maintain them.

  • 3.1

    Describe the equipment which will be necessary for maintaining plant development.

    Describe methods of maintaining the equipment ready for use.

Know the current health and safety legislation and environmental good practice.

  • 4.1

    Outline the current health and safety legislation, codes of practice and any additional requirements, which apply to this area of work.

    Describe how environmental damage can be minimised.

  • 4.3

    Describe the correct methods for disposing of organic and inorganic waste.

  • 4.4

    Describe why it is important to maintain hygiene and how this is achieved.
