These live webinars are exclusively available to staff from centres approved to deliver Gateway Qualifications’ ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) Skills for Life qualifications. To register, you must use an organisational email address associated with an approved ESOL centre. If you’re a registered Centre and haven’t received a registration email, please contact the Quality team at quality@gatewayqaulifications.org.uk for the registration link.

Delivering and Assessing ESOL with Confidence: A Practical Guide for Tutors
Are you looking to build confidence in assessing ESOL learners and gain a clearer understanding of what high-quality assessment evidence looks like? Join this practical introductory webinar designed for ESOL tutors, assessors and centres.
During the session, we’ll explore how ESOL assessments are judged across Reading, Writing, and Speaking & Listening, including what assessors look for, how learner evidence is evaluated, and how consistent assessment decisions are achieved.
Through practical examples, real learner scenarios, and interactive activities, you’ll gain valuable insights into what good assessment evidence looks like, how assessment decisions are made, and the common mistakes that can affect learner outcomes.
The session will also cover effective learner preparation and the quality assurance processes that support reliable assessment, including centre standardisation, internal quality assurance (IQA) and making best use of external quality assurance (EQA) feedback.
