As Mental Health Awareness Week comes to a close, colleagues across Gateway Qualifications are taking a moment to reflect on a week centred around action, connection and support.
This year’s theme, Action, set by the Mental Health Foundation, encouraged everyone to focus on simple, practical steps that can make a real difference to mental health. Throughout the week, our Mental Health First Aiders shared daily messages linked to five key themes: Action to Move, Action to Connect, Action to Learn, Action for Yourself and Action for Others.
Colleagues were encouraged to move in ways that worked for them — whether that meant a short walk, a stretch between meetings, or simply stepping away from their desks. There was also a strong focus on connection, with reminders to check in with one another and make time for conversation during busy days.
Our Action to Learn theme offered practical ideas around positive self-talk and simple ways to boost wellbeing, alongside some lighter moments — including desk karaoke links to lift energy and bring a smile. Action for Yourself encouraged small acts of self-care, while Action for Others highlighted the impact of kindness across teams.
A highlight of the week was Wear It Green Day, with colleagues coming together in green to show their support and spark important conversations.
Fabienne Bailey, CEO of Gateway Qualifications, said:
“As CEO of Gateway Qualifications, I am proud that we are supporting Mental Health Awareness Week which reaffirms our commitment to fostering a culture where wellbeing is prioritised, understood and openly discussed. We encourage everyone across our network to take time to check in with themselves and others, and to help create environments where mental health is respected and supported every day.”
While the week itself may have come to an end, Gateway Qualifications remains committed to keeping these conversations going all year round.
