    Following a scheduled review of our Level 2 Award in Mobile App Development, we’re writing to let you know about positive updates that will take effect from 1st August 2026.

    These changes ensure the qualification remains engaging for learners and closely aligned with current industry practice. As mobile technologies evolve rapidly, it’s essential that teaching keeps pace with new frameworks, operating system updates and user experience standards.

    The review has focused on ensuring learners develop skills that are current, transferable and meaningful. By refreshing unit aims and indicative content, the qualification better reflects:

    • Modern development environments
    • Cross‑platform tools
    • Real‑world design patterns and workflows

    What’s changing

    From 1 August 2026, updates will apply to the teaching and delivery of this qualification. These include refinements to ensure continued alignment with:

    • Current mobile development frameworks and platforms
    • Contemporary user experience and design standard

    A Summary of Changes document and Qualification Specification for delivery from August 2026 are available to support your planning.

    What is the purpose of this qualification?

    Learners will investigate the characteristics and uses of mobile apps. They will also design, develop and test their own mobile app in line with a design specification.
