Gateway Qualifications recognises the value that high‑quality teaching and learning resources bring to the effective delivery of our qualifications. We offer a structured endorsement process for publishers and content providers whose resources align with our qualifications and meet our quality criteria.
Endorsed resources may be promoted as having been reviewed by Gateway Qualifications and found to provide appropriate support for tutors and delivery staff.
Endorsement is subject to an initial application fee and a review fee. Full details are provided as part of the application process.
What does endorsement mean?
An endorsed resource is a teaching or learning resource submitted by a third‑party organisation that has been reviewed by Gateway Qualifications and found to meet our endorsement criteria for a specified qualification.
Endorsement confirms that the resource:
- aligns with the relevant qualification specification
- supports effective teaching and learning
- meets expectations relating to quality, accessibility and currency
What endorsement does not mean
Endorsement by Gateway Qualifications does not allow publishers to claim, or imply, that a resource:
- is mandated for the use of any resource for a qualification
- guarantees learner achievement of assessment outcomes
- restricts centres from choosing alternative resources
- contains privileged examiner insight
- replaces the qualification specification or assessment materials
Centres and tutors should continue to use their professional judgement when selecting resources to meet the needs of their learners.
Endorsement criteria
Gateway Qualifications publishes the criteria it uses to decide whether to endorse a third‑party resource.
To be eligible for endorsement, publishers must demonstrate that their resource:
- supports the delivery of a specific Gateway Qualifications qualification
- aligns accurately with the published learning outcomes and assessment criteria
- is clearly positioned as supportive and not sufficient on its own for achievement
- is accurate, current and subject to appropriate version control
- is accessible, inclusive and free from bias or discriminatory content
- is supported by suitable quality assurance arrangements
- avoids misleading claims about necessity, advantage or assessment insight
Gateway Qualifications applies these criteria consistently and takes reasonable steps to ensure endorsement does not have an Adverse Effect.
How endorsement may be used
All endorsed resources:
- display the Gateway Qualifications endorsement logo
- include an approved endorsement statement
- identify the qualifications to which endorsement applies
Use of the Gateway Qualifications endorsement logo and statement is licensed, controlled and monitored by Gateway Qualifications and must comply with agreed conditions.
Applying for endorsement
Organisations may apply to have their resources considered for endorsement by completing the Endorsement of Third‑Party Resources application form.
The application process requires applicants to:
- provide details of the resource and intended audience
- map the resource to the relevant qualification specification
- confirm how the resource is reviewed, updated and quality‑assured
- agree to conditions relating to use of endorsement and ongoing monitoring
Monitoring and review
Endorsed resources are subject to ongoing monitoring. Publishers are expected to inform Gateway Qualifications of material changes. Gateway Qualifications may:
- review resources periodically
- consider feedback from centres and learners
- withdraw endorsement where criteria are no longer met
