The most recent ONS figures estimate that 872,000 16 to 24-year-olds are now NEET (Not in Education, Employment or Training) across the UK.
These young learners face many barriers, including a lack of employability skills and access to a limited curriculum offer, which is often rigid and inaccessible to them. To assist these learners in overcoming these challenges, Awarding Organisations need to offer more flexibility in assessment and curriculum to Providers to add to their curriculum offerings. These qualifications can help Providers re-engage with NEET learners and give them a positive educational mindset and the right behaviours.
Reach out to NEET learners with flexible community-based programmes
The Entry Level 3 Award in Progression (30 GLH) has multiple units, including the Community and Environment Project; this unit allows providers to offer holistic, realistic and attainable connections to re-engage NEET learners with their local community. This 3-credit qualification has a range of other units for you to choose from, giving you the opportunity to contextualise learning.
After successfully completing the Entry Level Award, learners could progress onto more formal learning within the college through the Level 1 Certificate in Progression (151 GLH). This sizable qualification still provides the flexibility to deliver within the learner’s local community and can help you design a pathway of learning tailored to each learner’s needs.
Our Progression suite of qualifications is designed to build on the foundations of learning and life, to empower learners and to embed behaviours which will help them improve their confidence and self-esteem. This will give them the soft landing they need to return to education.
Continue your learners’ educational journey with occupational learning through our sector-specific Progression Pathways. These single-qualification Pathways are designed to help your learners progress to employment, an apprenticeship, or further study at Level 3 within their career field.
