Why choose this qualification?
The Gateway Qualifications Entry Level Award in British Values (Entry 3) provides a short introduction to the core concepts associated with British values, extremism, radicalisation and the basic principles of keeping safe from the risk of radicalisation including online. The qualification is easy to deliver and is assessed via an online, on-demand multiple choice test which is externally set and marked to reduce the burden on centres.
Learners come from a variety of backgrounds and cultures, and many British-born learners to do not fully understand what is meant by British values. This qualification breaks down complex concepts, using straightforward language and accessible (often scenario-based) questions to assess learners’ understanding. There are no entry requirements for this qualification.
An understanding of British Values can help learners’ self-development, aid their employability, contribute positively to safeguarding and help you build a cohesive community. The further purpose of the qualification is to promote personal growth and engagement in learning.
For centres, this qualification is easy-to-deliver and demonstrates to Ofsted that all students have a good understanding of the fundamental British Values:
- Democracy
- Rule of Law
- Liberty
- Mutual respect for and tolerance of those with different faiths and beliefs and for those without faith
Alongside the concepts of:
- Extremism
- Radicalisation
The assessment burden for this qualification has also been kept to a minimum by using an externally set and marked, online, multiple choice assessment. The assessment is available on-demand, so students can be entered whenever they are ready.
