What is the purpose of this qualification?
This qualifications has been designed as a coherent suite designed to recognise the achievements of learners working at Entry level, as they prepare for employment, independent living, further learning or adult life in general.
The objective of this Gateway Qualifications Entry level suite of qualifications is not only to give learners personal growth and engagement in learning but to prepare learners for employment, independent living and/or adult life in general.
Available at Entry 1, Entry 2, Entry 3 and Level 1, these qualifications enable learners to gain recognition for the important skill of taking responsibility for the type of support they receive and the manner in which they receive it.
The qualifications are designed to enable maximum flexibility, combining units at different levels and offering a wide range of choice, so that the curriculum can be led by the learners’ needs, accommodating the spiky profiles typical of learners at this level. The units are designed to enable learners to demonstrate their skills in a particular area, without being overly prescriptive about the nature of the evidence required.
Progression can be through the Entry Level Suite and/or on to other qualifications such as the Suite of Skills qualifications which themselves have Entry 3 qualifications within the suite.
