Update on the apprenticeship framework for the Higher Level Apprenticeship in Care Leadership and Management which was due to be withdrawn on 31 December 2017.
Skills for Care has submitted the assessment plan for the new Leader in Adult Care apprenticeship standard to the Institute for Apprenticeships (IfA) for review and approval. The IfA have advised Skills for Care that the review is unlikely to be completed before January due to some amendments and therefore this impacts on the planned availability of the standard for delivery from January 2018.
Please refer to the bottom of this page on the Skills for Care website.
In order to facilitate a smooth transition to the new standard and to ensure continuity of apprenticeship provision at level 5 Skills for Care, Awarding Organisations and the Adult Care Trailblazer chair/group have agreed that:
- The current Level 5 apprenticeship SASE framework will remain open until 31st August 2018.
- The registration period for the existing qualification Level 5 Leadership qualification will be extended by all Awarding Organisations until 31 August 2018 (agreed by the Joint Awarding Body Quality Group – JABQG).
The new Level 5 Diploma in Leadership & Management in Adult Care will be launched on 1st September 2018 by which time the apprenticeship standard assessment plan will be expected to have been published.
Gateway Qualifications has therefore retracted the withdrawal of its Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care and Children and Young People’s Services (England) and extended the qualification to 31 August 2018.
Our development of the Level 2 Diploma in Care is currently on track and we will be seeking letters of support shortly.
