Why choose this qualification?
These qualifications are intended to support centres in developing learners’ understanding of how to keep safe and healthy, by increasing their awareness of potential risks and the positive actions they can take to reduce or avoid them. The qualifications have been developed in collaboration with FE colleges.
The qualifications provide an introduction to keeping safe and healthy: through paying attention to diet, exercise, and sexual health, understanding the impact of lifestyle choices, and being alert and able to deal with risks to personal safety and when online.
The qualifications will be awarded to learners who successfully achieve the single mandatory unit via an online multiple-choice examination.

Keeping Safe and Healthy
What is the purpose of this qualification?
This qualification is designed to help learners understand how to keep safe and healthy, through developing their awareness of potential risks and the positive actions they can take to reduce them.
What skills, knowledge, or understanding does this qualification develop?
Learners will develop their knowledge of: diet, exercise, drugs and alcohol and their potential impact on health and wellbeing; sexual health, sexuality and gender identity; personal and online safety, including potential risks to safety and ways to reduce these.
How is this qualification different from other, similar qualifications?
This qualification provides learners with a good overview in terms of keeping safe and healthy; we offer more targeted qualifications in e-safety or looking after own mental wellbeing, if learners/providers are looking for qualifications with a more specific focus in each of these areas.
How will this qualification support the learner’s independence?
The qualification provides learners with the background knowledge to help keep themselves safe and healthy, making them more aware of potential risks and ways to reduce or avoid these.
