  • Why choose this qualification?

The primary purpose of this qualification is to increase the understanding of brain structure and development in babies so that individuals become more skilled in supporting their own baby’s learning and development.

For the Level 2 Award In How Babies Learn qualification learners will take one mandatory unit which covers the structure and development of the brain in babies, factors affecting brain development in babies and the reflection on the use of play to stimulate babies brain development.

This qualification is not intended to lead to employment but the knowledge and skills gained would be useful if learners decided to train for and/or seek employment in a job role where they would be responsible for supporting the learning and development of babies, such as a nursery nurse or health visitor. Individuals do not need any prior qualifications or specific levels of attainment but they must be aged 16 or over to take the qualification.

This qualification could support progression to a qualification in working with children, such as Gateway Qualifications Level 2 Certificate in Skills for Childcare. This qualification is available at two different levels (Levels 1 and 2). Learners are likely to benefit from the Level 2 Award if they have some prior experience of working at Level 1 and/or Level 2. Training providers should discuss which level would be most appropriate for each individual.

    Rules of Combination
