Unit Learning Outcomes

Be able to use the accelerated learning cycle to plan a brain-friendly learning activity for the classroom.

Assessment Criteria

  • 1.1

    Plan an appropriate brain-friendly learning activity for the classroom which

    • provides details of the profile of the group

    • sets out timings, resources and health and safety considerations

    • incorporates all stages of the accelerated learning cycle.

Be able to lead a brain-friendly learning activity for the classroom.

Assessment Criteria

  • 2.1

    Lead an appropriate brain-friendly learning activity for the classroom which is clearly structured and follows the accelerated-learning cycle.

  • 2.2

    Demonstrate clear and positive communication skills to guide and motivate those taking part in the activity.

Be able to assess the effectiveness of a brain-friendly learning activity for the classroom.

Assessment Criteria

  • 3.1

    Review the effectiveness of a brain-friendly learning activity for the classroom including the extent to which

    • the planned learning outcomes were met

    • the activity was enjoyed by those involved

    • the accelerated learning cycle was applied.

  • 3.2

    Describe ways in which they will be able to use their own learning from this activity to improve planning and delivery of future brain-friendly learning activities for the classroom.
