    The primary purpose of this qualification is to increase the understanding of brain-friendly learning in order to become more skilled in an existing job role or to prepare to take on a classroom-based job, leading or supporting children’s learning.

    For the Level 2 Award in Brain-friendly Learning for Children in the Classroom qualification learners will take two mandatory units which cover the concept of brain-friendly learning and its relationship to the accelerated learning cycle, the structure and functions of the brain and how they relate to learning and intelligence types and learning styles. Also, the skills to plan, contribute to leading and review the use of a brain-friendly learning activity for children in a classroom setting.

    This qualification can be taken as a means of up-skilling within a current job role, such as classroom assistant, or in preparation for taking on a similar role. It does not, by itself, qualify individuals to become a classroom assistant but the knowledge and skills covered will be useful in this and related job roles. Learners do not need any prior qualifications or specific levels of attainment but they must be aged 16 or over to take the qualification.

    This qualification could support progression to a qualification in learning support such as a Cache Level 2 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools. It could also provide a stepping stone towards an Access to Higher Education Diploma in Teaching. This qualification is available at two different levels (Levels 1 and 2). Learners are likely to benefit from the Level 2 Award if they are taking this Award alongside other Level 2 qualifications, have some experience in a classroom-based role or already have responsibility for leading activities for children in the classroom.

    What is the purpose of this qualification?

    The primary purpose of this qualification is to increase learners understanding of brain-friendly learning in order to become more skilled in an existing job role or to prepare to take on a classroom-based job, leading or supporting children’s learning.

    This qualification is suitable for learner if individuals are currently working with children in a classroom environment, or have aspirations to do so in the future, and wish to develop your understanding of brain-friendly learning as a means to accelerate children’s learning.
